War Memorial - The Diamond - Derry

This figure on the war memorial is caught in

the very act of killing

He is at war, not at peace

Why show him thus?

His bayonet ( now thankfully snapped off by someone ) faces directly toward "Butcher Gate"

Thereby his killing motion is pointing due north along a line which when projected marks where the victims of the Bloody Sunday shootings were all shot

Coincidence?

His face is of someone who has lost control

The red mist has descended

The act of war has overcome his humanity
